Transmission

I am fascinated by power generation and transmission. It comes from my early years working in this area, and it consequently becoming one of my ‘special’ interests. I love a good wind turbine, and / or pylon / transmission tower, and will stop to admire a new design when I see one. I can’t help thinking of pylons as machines marching across the land. It’s hard to get good images, as the pylons get lost in the noise of the landscape in a lot of places. However, in Iceland, a lot of power is generated in the interior from water (hydropower), and so the pylons are marching across barren landscapes, making them stand out more.
