It’s darts, but not as we know it. It’s called khuru and the darts are huge, being aimed at a target is 35 metres (or 115 feet) away. This game was happening on Lunar New Year (Lhosar), as a celebration, with a good deal of beer and whiskey, and would take a great deal of the day to play. I felt a guilty thrill of getting the picture of the monk warming his calves, it felt a bit wrong, but very human. The men are wearing their Gho, their traditional dress, and the coloured sashes are the way in which the score is kept and tallied.
