I have a bit of thing for temples. It is something about the antiquity and the knowledge that literally thousands of feet have trodden where mine have over hundreds of years. I also feel like they radiate the atmosphere they have absorbed over the years, though I fully recognise this is more likely to be an over active imagination.

Sitting on Phnom Bakheng for sunrise, looking down the east entrance towards the glow on the horizon, I got a kind of vertigo knowing that this would have been what this temple was built for (around 889-910), and that the King at that time (Yasovarman I) could have stood where I was standing over 1,100 years ago.
